'Serena' angelonia |
'Serena' angelonia is a new plant in my garden. Angelonia are often referred to as "summer snapdragons." They are annuals that tend to do better in hot, humid conditions than snapdragons, and my garden tag says it needs very little water once established.
My husband bought me this plant because he said it made him think of me--my name is Angela and my favorite color is purple. I like this plant. The flowers are a beautiful shade of purple. I think it'll add nice color variety to my garden, which is dominated by vegetables. This plant is heat-resistant and low maintenance--also just like me! ;)
I love this annual and frequently put it in my containers...
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this plant before - it is lovely and would be ideal for my 'purple patch' - must see if I can source one.
ReplyDeleteIt's a new plant for me. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful flower stalk - I love all the blooms!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet and thoughtful man you have! I've seen this in our nurseries but have always wondered what "hot and humid" really means...Texas "hot and humid" I don't know!
ReplyDeleteI had this plant last year and it did really well. I am very fond of Angelonia.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet to have a plant with the same name as you.
ReplyDeleteI remember last year you had problems growing carrots in containers. I just read a post about it, where Christina at Creating my own Garden of the Hesperides seemed to have some luck with this. Hope this post helps.
A flower with your favorite color has a name close to yours! Your husband made good pick. I love the way it adds color to your white porch.
ReplyDeleteI love this annual and frequently put it in my containers...
ReplyDeleteI grow quite a bit of this too, mostly in containers. I'm so lucky that this is a perennial where I garden, and it is one of my favourite plants. I just love the little flowers that it produces in abundance.
ReplyDeleteI was not familiar with this plant, but it sounds ideal for my hot, humid summer! I think it is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried this annual but it's such a beauty, I may need to put it on my list. I love purple, too. :o)
ReplyDeleteAngela - I love this plant. I bought a few last year with hopes that they would be perennial for me.... haven't seem them reappear yet. I love purple also. I hope it blooms and grows all summer for you. It is so beautiful!
ReplyDelete5 weeks of school left!! woo-hoo!! Just think - every day of The Horrible Project that passes is one less day you have to deal with it! Maybe you should smash some plates. :o) Let me know if you want any more ground cherry seedlings. I have extras. :o)
