Technology Woes

I've noticed recently that when I leave comments on certain blogs, my comments don't appear in the post. One friend mentioned that on two blogs my comments are going to the spam boxes. I've noticed this seems to only be happening on Wordpress blogs, especially those that require you to log in to comment. So, Garden Friends, I may be leaving comments on your posts, but they are getting composted. (Blogger seems to be OK though). Anyone else experiencing this? Or know if there's anything I can do to fix it?

I know my computer is mocking me. (Also, I don't have a beard).

  1. I just rescued your comment from the spam folder today over at NDIN. This time it didn't have the gravatar (sp?) link attached. I did a quick edit and added the link to your blog.

  2. Wordpress has been acting different for me, too. When I try to leave comments, it asks me to check into my latent Wordpress account, even though I'm signing in through Google or Blotanical. Strange.

  3. Hmm, I wonder if you could try a different browser. My browser has been acting funky. But I was able to leave a comment just now on WordPress blog.

  4. I got you two lovely comments today, so thankyou! i find technology endlessly wonderful but endlessly frustrating - I had a spate of being turned to spam too - unfortunately I never did find out what caused it.

  5. Blogspot will send comments to spam - and tell you why! - for me it is frequently because 'you' have chosen Noreply. The computer then tells me brightly you composted Noreply before, so I'm composting ALL Noreply comments.

Two things, if 'you' chose Noreply, I can't email a reply to you - if we wanted a just between the two of us conversation. And, I check my spam folder each time I moderate comments. Rather that than the dreaded word verification, or cr*ppy spam published on MY blog.

  6. PS if you know your comment doesn't show up, email the blogger and ask him/her to check their spam folder, pretty please. If the comment is not retrieved, it is deleted after a month in spam.

  7. Thanks for the comments, everyone. I've started checking my spam folder too, and found two legitimate comments from visitors. I also did away with word verification because Blogger changed the format, and I can barely make out the letters! I've sent an email to wordpress asking about the issue, but i think they just posted it in their general forum. We'll see what replies I get.

  8. How frustrating. I always check the spam folder for comments just in case....hoping things get better soon in your cyberworld!

  9. I've had some issues with Blogger lately. I had to click 'publish' several times and then wait a minute before the comment would publish. It seems to have resolved itself. If the issue doesn't go away in another day or so, I'd contact the blogger.
