Today is National Grilled Cheese Day. I don't know who decides these fake holidays, but my favorite sandwich is a grilled cheese, so I'm going with it.
It is pouring down rain this morning and a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, of course, sounds very appealing. If you're into grilled cheese, here are some links you might like:

Spinach-artichoke grilled cheese
Jalapeno popper grilled cheese
Farmers' market grilled cheese (recipe calls for zucchini, spinach, tomato, and mayonnaise!! I would pass on the mayo, but otherwise it looks really good!)
You can click on the picture and/or source link under each picture to go to the recipe.
I think I'm going to have one like in the first picture--with melted mozzarella, tomato, and basil.
Do you like grilled cheese sandwiches? How do you make them?

ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I was hungry before I read this post and now I'm drooling. Seriously. I love grilled cheese, too. All of them look fantastic, but the Jalapeno popper one really stands out. Thanks for the great ideas!
ReplyDeleteI love grilled cheese, especially with a thin slice of great ham and a bit of mustard. :o)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this is a worldwide celebration. I happened to make my children grilled cheese on toast (ie open sandwiches) for lunch today so it seems I celebrated without even knowing it. I am something of a traditionalist personally - I don't think you can go past a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich but that seems pretty mundane compared to some of those above.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love grilled cheese but these are beyond grilled cheese...I will have to try a few especially the first one..mmmmmmm!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my....how mouthwatering do all those cheesy sarnies look!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally up for this holiday and shall indulge in style later! Yum!xxxxx
Grilled Cheese sandwiches will always be comfort food to me, and a happy childhood memory. (Especially since my younger brother thought my Mom said "Girl Cheese sandwich", and insisted that his be called a "Boy Cheese sandwich" from then on.) Now I see your post! Those sandwiches look more gourmet than I ever could have imagined -- and absolutely scrumptious! Time to go follow those recipes! :o)
ReplyDeleteYUM!
