May Blooms

White Azalea Bush, originally uploaded by Bumble Lush.

As I wait for my vegetable seedlings to get growing (and pray that my neglect over the last few weeks hasn't prevented me from having home-grown veggies this summer), I am enjoying a few blooms around my garden.
First up is the white azalea bush, a late bloomer (just like me!)

The sage plant is flowering with some pretty lavender flowers.

blue endless summer 5-13

And two of the hydrangeas have started to bloom: the pink and blue Endless Summers. The Brestenburg variety (not pictured) is in a container. It has buds but no blooms yet...

I'm a day early, but I'll be linking up with Carol's Garden Bloggers Bloom Day meme (at May Dreams Gardens). I'm looking forward to seeing what's in bloom in other gardens this month. Happy GBBD!

  1. Your sage flowers look so pretty, Angela. And so do your pink hydrangea. I love the way the hydrangea flowers don't wilt and stay in bloom for a long time.

    1. Thank you, Sri Ranjani! I hope to have hydrangea blooms for a long time. Last year the plants had a fungus problem. I'm going to keep a close eye on them this year and hope it doesn't happen again.

    1. Thanks, Elaine. It does make me wish I had space for more floral blooms and fewer vegetables sometimes.

    1. Thanks Holley! I wish I had some secret to the azaleas, but we just leave them alone. Actually, maybe that's the secret!

  5. I often find neglect gives me the best crops (as long as it doesn't kill them) - I have a tendency to harvest too early and if I forget about things they do much better as a result.

    1. I'm going to repeat this to myself and try not to stress too much about it. :)

  6. My vegetable garden will also be a bit more ambitious this year - and we are taking the precaution of building a major deer proof fence around it. You are way ahead of us however.

  10. Your sage blooms are lovely. My pineapple sage is blooming, but the others have yet to bloom. I look forward to my hydrangeas being as far along as yours.

  12. Hydrangeas remind me of New Orleans. I love the blue ones. I'm tempted to buy them in a pot and treat as houseplants, but I think they would be short lived.

  14. Your blooms are beautiful! I gave my hydrangeas away (not enough moist shade) and miss them already. I love how tough salvia are. They are blooming machines! I have 2 ground cherry seedlings left if you want one. :o)
