The Mighty Petunia

Petunia - June 12
Petunia - August 11

I had no idea petunias were so tough! I have neglected the petunia this summer. It's in the front yard in a spot between my driveway and the neighbors', and quite frankly, I just forget about it sometimes. My focus is always on the vegetables in the back. Until last night, I had not watered it since June, but look at it! The blooms are as pretty as they were months ago when I planted them. If anything, the plants have grown in the last two months! And best of all, they were on sale for maybe $1 each. I am impressed, Miss Petunia!

  1. I agree - petunias are some of the hardest working plants around. Pretty mix of colors. Love that dark red.

  2. This is why my mom likes these so much, you don't have to do anything special with them at all, they appear to be more delicate then they actual are. I love a plant that's tough and cute at the same time.

  3. I wonder if your neighbor watered them because petunias are tough but not very xeric. They are very pretty, though! You definitely got your $1 worth!

  4. @Holley--thank you! I like the red purple mix too. :)

@Vetsy--yes, they do appear delicate, but they're tough. I think they're going to be a staple in my garden.

@CasaMariposa--I guess it's possible that my neighbor watered them...but this is the same neighbor who weed-whacked my mint plant that used to be in the same spot because she thought it was a weed. So I don't know if she'd really water it!
